Attendance Support - February 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Reminder regarding attendance

St Luke’s has high expectations for every pupil’s attendance at school. As parents and carers, it is your responsibility to ensure that your children attend school.

From September to this half term, our attendance has been 94%. This has been a difficult time due to Covid and Norovirus but the general percentage needs to increase.

Good attendance is when your child attends school over 95% of the time. This is really important, as good attendance has a direct relationship with achievement. If your child misses school, this has an impact on their achievement. Your child would be missing out on their learning. It is for this reason that the school will not authorise any holidays during term time and the school will inform the LA who will issue a fine.

As you are aware, the school tracks and analyses patterns and trends in attendance, whilst at the same time working closely with families to improve attendance. We will be meeting with several parents and carers this week to support families whose child’s attendance (and punctuality) is lower than expected. Please check your emails to see if you have been invited to attend a meeting.

We do challenge parents to ensure that their children attend but also offer support where needed. The school will continue to celebrate good attendance, improvements in attendance and achievement with our learners.

Yours sincerely

Nicky Zeronian-Dalley
