Dear Parents and Carers
I am pleased to inform you that the full Section 5 Ofsted report from our two-day inspection in May is now available. We are delighted to confirm that the school’s overall grade was GOOD. We are also very proud of the outstanding judgements in the areas of Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development. The process was detailed and rigorous and I am very thrilled that the amazing provisions we have in place for our children have been acknowledged. I would like to thank all those who took part in the inspection: staff, governors, parents and pupils alike.
We are very pleased that the hard work undertaken by all in the school community has been recognised, including the systems in place, the reflective and driven nature of staff and governors, the behaviour and attitude of the pupils and the rate at which the school makes progress beyond that seen nationally.
Pupils are exceptionally happy and proud to talk about their school. Leaders have high aspirations for all pupils and provide an ambitious curriculum. They place high importance on pupils understanding their community and the wider world. The school values thread through every aspect of school life. Pupils are encouraged to show their resilience and to ‘bounce back’ when faced with a challenge. Ofsted, May 2023
Our school is reliant on the support and input that parents and carers give to their children at home too, so I would like to extend a personal thanks to you for your support.
The report itself highlights the many elements of excellent provision at St Luke’s. What is very satisfying is that the areas for improvement were already within the development plan prior to the inspection or already at action stages.
Leaders provide pupils with a wealth of personal development opportunities. All pupils learn to play an instrument. Leaders provide opportunities for pupils to take on roles of responsibility. Pupils are proud of the difference they make to the school community. Leaders provide an inclusive environment and opportunities for pupils to celebrate their own identity. Pupils are taught how to reflect on their actions and their work. Leaders place a high priority on reading. All staff have been trained, which ensures a consistent approach to phonics. I do hope that you will take the time to read the inspection report in full. It celebrates and demonstrates that our school is not only doing an amazing job with our learners and families, but that we are fully committed to developing our school, with the children at the heart of what we do.
Once again, may I thank all those involved in the inspection itself, especially the staff, parents, governors, Trust and children; all of whom help to make St Luke’s the special place it is. We realise how fortunate we are to have such wonderful pupils who are great ambassadors for the future.
