Class Teacher Welcome
Welcome to an exciting year of learning. Our goal in Reception is to ensure children develop a love of learning and develop the passion and desire to explore the different areas of the early years curriculum. As this is their first year in St Lukes, it is important that children are equipped with the key characteristics of effective learning and taught the independence they need to complete their learning journey throughout the school.
Thank you for visiting the class website. I hope you find this to be an invaluable resource to help keep you up to date on what is happening in the classroom and what is expected of students.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me via phone to the school, or class dojo.

Home Learning in Year R
Home learning will be given on Friday to be returned on Wednesday. This home learning will be based on the learning the children will be doing each week to further embed their understanding. As well as this, learners can independently access the following reading website using their individual login details:
High Frequency Words in Year R
Throughout the year children will be taught the first 45 high frequency words. Children should be able to read and spell these by the end of the reception year.

Information for Parents/Carers
Reading: Children should be reading daily and this should be recorded in their reading record books.
PE: Lessons with Coach will be on a Friday morning, please ensure that your child comes to school in their correct kit on this day. This includes: house colour top (blue, red, yellow, green), plain navy tracksuit bottoms or shorts and black plimsoles. Please ensure all uniform is named and labelled clearly.
Class Dojo: Class dojo is a great way for children and parents to visually see the points they have earned throughout the week. The children can earn points for outstanding work or contribution in and outside of school. It is also a great platform for us to share the learning that is happening in our class for the week, as well as keeping you informed of any key dates and events. There is also a messaging section should you wish to speak to me about any concerns you may have throughout the year.
Should you have any concerns or would like to meet to discuss your child's learning, please feel free to schedule a time to meet after school.
